On the 15th of January, Orkustofnun (National Energy Authority) agreed on Sjávarorka´s application for research license in Breidafjördur.

On September 1st 2009 there are 18 months since RARIK Energy Development Ltd. or RED started its operation as an affiliate of RARIK Ltd. To mark this occasion a new website of the company is launched and opened to everyone at www.red.is.
